Alliance of the System Lords, What's Next, and the End of an Era
Dear community,
Alliance of the System Lords GC is coming to Stable
with many more bugs fixed, we have now reached sufficient stability in the Alliance of the System Lords GC to finally bring it to the stable branch of the mod! Among others, we have now also added new land upgrades (most for GC), improved mod start time and fixed SG1 going in respawn in GC when only one member died. Various ground maps have also been improved and we’ve added more stuff on them for you to discover ;-) . See the changelog page to get the full list of improvements and fixes.
What’s Next
As some of you already discussed and/or correctly guessed on Discord, our next focus will be the large sandbox GC. We won’t say too much right now, only this: You can look forward to a little over 100 planets and ten minor factions, next to the main three playable ones of course.
We’re aiming for a beta release within this year, but as usual - we never know what life throws our way next, so no promises…
Since the scope of this free play GC is much larger than the previous, story focused campaigns, expect a few more placeholders (ground maps most of all) and less polish overall. So far we didn’t get as much internal testing done - that’s where you come in
The End of an Era
One last thing. If you’re reading this news post on our website, and/or visit it regularly, you have probably noticed the complete site relaunch this summer…
This also kinda marks the end of an era, since with that change, we also made the decision to discontinue the operation of our forum. Over the past years, community activity has more and more shifted to Discord, eventually drying out the forum completely. At the time of shutdown this summer, it had been two years since the last forum activity.
Regardless of the amount of user activity, keeping the forum up and running still took a non-neglectible amount of maintenance effort. This simply wasn’t in proportion to the benefit any more.
Therefore, we used the opportunity to switch the site over to a whole new technological basis that should come with much less maintenance effort for us and much better performance for you, the users.
However, we are aware that the forum contains and represents an enormous part of the history of this project and the community, and surely holds lots of memories for us and you. Therefore we made an archival, non-interactive, read-only copy of the whole forum that will remain available for everyone to enjoy if you feel like doing a little trip down memory lane ;)
Yours, SGMG
