Launcher Retirement & New Open-Beta Update (Holiday Edition)

Hello dear community, With the holidays approaching, we bring you three exciting announcements — one about the future of our launcher, one about a new Open-Beta update for Pegasus Chronicles, and one that fills us with happiness as part of the Stargate community.Stargate — A New Official TV Series Is Coming! This year has already delivered what many in the Stargate community are calling the greatest early Christmas gift: Amazon MGM Studios has officially green-lit a brand-new Stargate TV series for Prime Video, with veteran franchise creator Martin Gero at the helm. This project promises to expand the Stargate universe we all know and love, honoring its legacy while introducing new stories, characters, and worlds. As part of the Stargate community ourselves, the SGMG team is incredibly excited about this announcement — and we look forward to seeing how this new series will fit into the existing Stargate universe alongside SG-1, Atlantis, Universe and more.
Retirement of the Launcher Our launcher has helped install and update Pegasus Chronicles for many years — especially for non-Steam users. After careful consideration, we have decided to retire the launcher:
- We no longer have the capacity to reliably maintain or support launcher issues.
- The Steam version of the mod has long since surpassed the legacy launcher system in technical potential.
What this means:
- We will stop delivering updates via the launcher.
- Non-Steam versions remain available as archive downloads “as is,” without support.
- For the best experience going forward, we strongly recommend using the Steam version.

Why There Were Fewer Updates This Year Some of you may have noticed that relatively few updates were released this year. We want to openly explain why: The team behind SGMG works on Pegasus Chronicles on a volunteer basis, and outside of modding each of us has commitments such as jobs, studies, family, and everyday life. As responsibilities grow, available time naturally changes — and that affects our development capacity.
However, we want to be clear: We are not planning to stop. Pegasus Chronicles continues — and we’re still working on content and improvements. At the same time, we know that faster progress will only be possible if new contributors join our team.
Join SGMG! If you’d like to help — whether with balancing, testing, 3D/2D art, scripting, sound, or general project work — check out our open roles and apply! We’d love to have you: https://sgmg2022.stargate-eaw.de/contribute/
As Christmas approaches, we want to thank every one of you for your support throughout the year — whether you’ve played builds, reported bugs, given feedback, or simply enjoyed Pegasus Chronicles with friends. From our team to you and your loved ones: We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a joyful holiday season! May your holidays be filled with warmth, good company, and exciting Stargate adventures. And with the announcement of a new official Stargate series, we’re even more excited for what the future holds for our beloved universe.
Thank you for being part of this journey — here’s to an exciting new year for Pegasus Chronicles!
Yours, The SGMG Team
