The E.S.F. SOL is the prototype of a new generation of Tau’ri ships and the first carrier-warship hybrid. She was developed in cooperation with several European countries and built in a secret underwater shipyard in the Baltic Sea. Its 3000-strong crew, which includes soldiers, scientists, technicians as well as pilots, is also international. The ship is almost twice the size of a BC-304 and about three times as long. It has the most advanced sensor systems, extremely powerful shields and a high-performance propulsion system. The SOL’s arsenal consists of 8 missile launchers, 6 light railgun batteries, 8 magnetic pulse guns, and an experimental plasma beam cannon. Her huge hangar deck, which extends from bow to stern, can accommodate 3 F-302 squadrons, 2 HB-302 squadrons and several troop carriers. The SOL can also accommodate various ground vehicles in its large cargo holds. While the primary mission of the ship is to defend Earth and the Sol system, it is also used for training and exercise purposes and can carry out pre-emptive attacks. The first ship of the newly founded European Space Force is commanded by the German Admiral Wilhelm Bartels. |
